Hi I'm Kerri Dixon, Wildlife Artist.
As an Artist I work hard to develop paintings that speak both to me and to others about the natural beauty that exists around us. I am an avid animal lover and strive to keep perfecting my wildlife art.
Through this challenge I wish to share my knowledge to those that are just starting out and take away the confusion and overwhelm that can sometimes come from creating realistic wildlife art in soft pastels.
By learning these few techniques you should be well on your way to understanding this medium and how to tackle your next animal painting.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need any drawing experience?
Not at all.
Soft Pastel Week is designed for beginners and returning artists. I'll guide you step by step, and you don't need any previous experience to participate.
What if I've never used soft pastels before?
That's perfectly okay.
I'll explain the techniques as we go, and the project has been specifically chosen to be achievable for beginners while still looking impressive when finished.
What supplies do I need?
You'll receive a supply list after registration.
If you already have soft pastels or pastel pencils, you're welcome to use them. There's no need to buy expensive materials to take part.
What if I can't attend the live sessions?
No problem.
All registered participants will have access to the recordings throughout Soft Pastel Week and until 26th July, so you can catch up at a time that suits you.
How long are the lessons?
The lessons are designed to be manageable and beginner-friendly.
The horse eye lesson is approximately 20–30 minutes, while the draw-along sessions are around 45–60 minutes each.
Where does Soft Pastel Week take place?
Soft Pastel Week takes place online.
You'll receive access to the event dashboard, lesson recordings, and our private community where you can share your artwork and connect with other participants.
Is this suitable if I'm coming back to art after a long break?
Absolutely.
Many of my students haven't picked up a pencil in years—or even decades—before joining. Soft Pastel Week is designed to help you rebuild confidence in a supportive environment.
Will I get feedback on my artwork?
Yes.
You're encouraged to share your progress throughout the week, and I'll be popping into the group regularly to answer questions and cheer you on.
